Day 1 (1/6/09): (I may have forgotten what happened due to my poor memory but this is what I THINK happened =.=)
We had Woodwinds and Strings combined in the morning. During fall-in, somebody(I forgot who) told us to go to 2K(I think, I got short-term memory lost you know... =.=). Then we went there and waited for like FOREVER, and NOBODY came... Then Michelle and I went down to the band room to get stands (which unfortunately, were all taken by our seniors...) and then went up again and there was still NOBODY... =.= Then after a long time, Terence finally came and brought us to another classroom opposite the Brasses and Percussions. Then he told us to arrange the chairs to form a semicircle and then disappeared again... -.- After waiting for a while (this time, shorter) he came back and we totally forgot to greet him haha :D
Terence: "Year 1s, you all have to greet me."
Us: "..." (Nobody said 1,2,3 so we didn't know when to start... hahas)
Terence: "Okay...1,2,3!"
"Good...morning, Sir."
Okay...I know that's lame. But I want to make this post longer hehe :-)
Went for lunch at Kampong Arang with Michelle and her friends. All of us ate the same thing, Wanton Mee... =.="'
After lunch was................... YEAR 1 FULL BAND!!!!!!!!!!! Whoohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D Terence came in and told us a "good" news. We were going to perform on Thursday. Omg he called that "good" news....We were gonna play Trumpet Voluntary and Rockin' Rondeau. After that we practised and practised and yea, that's about it =.=
Day 2 (2/6/09):
Woodwinds and Strings combined practice again. This time Terence didn't come so Nicholas replaced him. Guess what? We forgot to greet again. Busy arranging the chairs mah. HAHA :D Then he taught us the soup method of breathing. Take a deep breath using your mouth as if you are drinking a big bowl of soup. Yea it may not sound funny now but if you (I'm talking to you, Raj hahas) were there to see how he really did it, it's hilarious. Then another senior came in. I forgot the name again. Then Nicholas got tired of the Woodwinds and Strings (he plays the trumpet) and went over to the brass section. So practice started...
After lunch, YEAR 1 FULL BAND!!!!!!!!! I dunno how many times I've said this in this blog...=.= Nicholas and Ching Ying (I think...you know I have bad memory) came in. We practised for the 1st hour then we got bored.
Then Nicholas asked us,"What time are you all dismissed?"
"6.15"
"HUH? SO LATE? Terence told me 3.15!!!!!!!!!"
Haha XD Then we played this shouting game. Nicholas said a word then each of us were supposed to say that word louder then the person before us. Quite fun :D
After that, Nicholas talked about Instrument Care. This was the crap he said,"Okay the first thing you must know about instrument care is to care for your instrument." LOL...?? HAHA :D
Okay there were more intersting things that happened but I don't feel like writing them down here...
Day 3 (3/6/09):
Raj came back from her holiday in a hotel in Singapore. Hahaha... :D And just because of those 2 days, she was "kicked out" from main band and joined our pathetic Year 1 band. Hehe. She also didn't get to perform in the Rhythm XXIII concert which means I won't be able to take picture of her during the concert :'( Sobs... lol =.=
Okay... so same thing in the morning, Woodwinds and Strings combined. Terence came back. So we started practising. Then at some time (I forgot what time -.-), Terence got to go somewhere else so we were left alone. Yay! Raj taught me the Wedding Song. Then both of us played it. Raj, on her clarinet, and me, on my flute. Hehe so fun :D Then Raj spammed the whiteboard with my name. Ya I know I very famous and you admire me but don't go to the extreme ok? HAHAHA :-)
Went to the canteen for lunch and Raj went mad over the cheese fries and milo. Xiao Min, you were absolutely right!
After that..................YEAR 1 FULL BAND!!!!!!!!!!! Yay I said that again. We practised harder cos on Thursday we were going to perform! AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
Day 4 (4/6/09):
Today is DOOMSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had JH sectional practice in the morning. Hehe our seniors clapped for us while Michelle and I played Trumpet Voluntary and Rockin' Rondeau. They said we are quite good. Yay! :D
Then we went down for lunch. Mrs Wong bought lunch for all of us. YAY! THANK YOU MRS WONG! It was Nasi Lemak. Haha :D After that, me, Bernice, and Jie Min were betting on whether Xiao Min was going to finish her H2O 1st or Rachel was going to finish her orange juice 1st. I betted Rachel, and mwahahaha I was right. I know Raj drinks very fast, right? Hehe :-)
Okay, now's really the doomstime. We went to the Performing Arts Centre (PAC). After a celebration of our band's 43rd (Is it 43rd anyway?) Anniversay, we finally went up on stage. OMG it was like SYF for me!!! I think if I really go for SYF I would faint before we even start playing. Raj was so irritated with my nervousness, haha. Anyway, I think we played horribly. Okay not really lah, but I think we made a few mistakes. Our seniors shouted encore at the end but I think it was not because we played well but because they were trying to encourage us. Sigh... :-( Yea I know I'm so pessimistic.
But in the end, I found out that it was not as bad after all! Not that scary! ;-)
Rhythm XXIII (6/6/09):
YAY!!! Met Michelle and Clarissa at the foyer then we started walking to PAC. We saw Mr Sng on the way and greeted him. Haha I think Mr Sng saw that we were quite scared. When we reached the PAC, we were greeted by a thunderous "HELLO!!!" from Nicholas. Lol... :-) Then he made us write our names and phone number on the tracking list form.
Went into the PAC and I saw my flute seniors! They were waving to me and saying hello so many times. Haha :-) Sat in between Michelle and Clarissa.
Then the concert started. 1st song was Credentium by the Junior High Band. Then Saga Maligna. Shao Shan played a solo in one of the songs OMG!!! She so pro!!! Then Senior High Band. They played Les Miserables and Animation Medley. So nice :D
Then it was the intermission. Rachel, as usual, went crazy over the milo. I met SHAO SHAN!!! Hehe :D
After the intermission was the Alumni Band. They played highlights from "sprited away". I dunno what show is that but nvm. Following that was Carnival of Venice. The soloist was a euphonium player, Twain Teo. I dunno who he is too but just type it here lah.
Then........................................JUNIOR HIGH BAND again!!!!!! They played.........CARMEN SUITE!!! Yay at last I got to hear Carmen Suite played by the whole band. And Rachel you evil person even if you don't tell me when's the Disney part I can find out for myself! Hmph! >:-(
The GRAND FINALE was our band's signature song, STAND BY ME!!!! The audience shouted encore and omg they really played it again. Haha :-)
Okay, I shall end my longest post now. Haha 1st time I write so long!
