| Content : | Formed on 18 March 1967 as a Brass Band, it graduated into a Symphonic Band. With the base of instilling music, discipline, civic-mindedness, and team spirit, this band aims to also have public performances and overseas tours under their belt. The Dunman High School Performing Arts Group, in which the band plays a very prominent role, has been awarded the Sustained Achievement Award by the Ministry of Education, in recognition of its consistently outstanding achievements. It was also awarded the National Arts Education Award Silver in 2003 and Gold in 2006. In the 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005 Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging for Concert Bands, the band won the Gold Award. In 2001, it was also selected as one of Top Five Secondary School Bands of Singapore. In 2005, the band won the Gold with Honours award. In 2007, the Senior High band members combined with the Sembawang Wind Orchestra, under the baton of their conductor, Mr Desmond Ng, participated in the 18th Australian International Music Festival held in Sydney and clinched the Gold award. In 2007 and 2009, both the Junior High and Senior High Bands were awarded Silver in the SYF Central Judging for Concert Bands. Mr Desmond Ng is the Resident Conductor of the band. He was appointed in 1997 and under his guidance, the band has made remarkable progress. Featuring tracks like Concerto Damore, Krommer Clarinet Concerto, Stand By Me and even tracks from Teresa Teng this would be Dunman High's first concert in the Singapore Botanic Gardens you dont want to miss!
